On the 50th anniversary of Janis Joplin's death, the Hamburg soul singer Floy verbally and musically moves thoughts on what the spirit of Janis Joplin meant to her and the world, then and now. A spirit of departure, of the unconventional, of freedom and revolution. Because tearing down inner and outer boundaries has lost little of its topicality. Soul singer Floy, who has fascinated audiences for decades, not only in her native Hamburg, reveals in this rousing show what her original inspiration was to become a soul, blues and gospel singer.

​Fjarill dedicated their new album to two Nobel Prize winners in literature, the Swede Pär Lagerkvist and the German-Jewish writer Nelly Sachs. The Swedish and South African duo gave their words melodies and carried them into the present. The music moves between folk, pop, jazz and classical tunes and now for the first time is also being sung in German.

In his successful stage programme, British actor and moderator Marc Lyndon reflects his experiences with the citizens of Hamburg. He infers comedic conclusions about the different national characters from everyday observations. Mark Lyndon studied literature and theatre in London and moved to Hamburg in 1982. In the Hanseatic city, among others, he worked for the University Players and the English Theatre.

​Drei Stimmen aus dem Nachbarstaate Dänemark. Ausgewählte Werke von Jonas Eika, Madame Nielsen und Carsten Jensen - vorgetragen von den Schauspieler*innen Maureen Havlena und Alexander Kruuse Mettin - lassen auf unterschiedliche Art und Weise Bilder in unseren Köpfen entstehen. Jonas Eika streift in seiner phantasievollen Sprache das Sci-Fi-Genre. Madame Nielsen lässt tief in ihre Seele blicken und Carsten Jensen serviert Wünsche, Sehnsüchte und Ängste aus dem 17. Jahrhundert die urplötzlich ganz reel wirken.

After numerous tours with various orchestras and bands, the three exceptional musicians Benny Brown (trumpet, flugelhorn), Wolf Kerschek (piano), and Felix Behrendt (bass) are finally united and present the program of their debut CD „Brown“. A constant alternation between composition and improvisation takes the audience into a particularly personal, detailed soundscape between catchy melodies and loud explosions.

Adam Brixton from Hamburg always wanted to be a musician. His dream started to materialize after a year abroad in Norway, where Brixton started to compose music. The path afterwards led him to Los Angeles, among many other places. Sing and Songwriter Adam Brixton now presents his own written songs, some of which he performs in the Norwegian - language.

18:00  Die Vorlesemanufaktur: Heinrich Heine - Deutschland ein Wintermärchen, presented by Maureen Havlena & Theresa Berlage (in German)

​Unzufrieden mit der Situation in Deutschland, insbesondere für Juden, emigrierte Heine 1831 nach Frankreich. Im Jahr 1843 reiste er für wenige Wochen noch einmal nach Deutschland, um in Hamburg seine Mutter und seinen Verleger Julius Campe zu treffen. 1844 erschien dann sein Reiseepos bei Hoffmann und Campe und wurde trotz Änderungen und Streichungen im Oktober desselben Jahres verboten. Der Dichter zeigt sich hier als Mensch, der seine Heimat liebt und diese als kreativen Kontrast zum leichtlebigen Frankreich definiert. Es ist ein Bekenntnis zu Lebensfreude und Gegenwärtigkeit in Gleichheit und Freiheit.

​In her theatre performance, Swedish artist Lisa Mårtensson proves that time travel is possible. A fascinating and captivating adventure that takes us beyond the boundaries of theatre and opens up a new perspective on ourselves, time and the universe. Lisa Mårtensson is a scriptwriter, director, performance artist and co-founder of Absurdum Temporary Art. The group wants to elevate the performative and absurd in the behavior and actions of everyday life by taking them out of their context and question norms as well as show the absurdity in the ”normal” by asking existential questions through familiar references.
