Bach is all around - A concert trilogy

 

Hamburg’s area of Altona and Denmark: This is a friendship that never fades. One of the similarities these two areas share is the love for organ music and of course the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. In the St. Marien Church in Altona, three well-known Hamburg organists will approach the phenomenon of Bach as part of the Ottenser Organ Autumn.
 

Concert 1

Bach in Hamburg and Lübeck - Presenting Prof. Dr. Hans Bäßler playing the organ.
J.S. Bach aquainted himself with both, the Hamburg and Italian traditions for organ music when he was 20 years old, working for several months in Lübeck, learning from the great Dieterich Buxtehude.

Concert 2

Bach in Weimar  - Presenting Prof. Wolfgang Zerer playing the organ.
At the Weimar court, Johann Sebastian Bach was exposed to Italian instrumental music, which he then adapted for the organ.

Concert 3

Bach in Leipzig – Presenting Kantor Rainer Lanz playing the organ.

In Leipzig, Johann Sebastian Bach united apparent opposites.
